What’s The Truth About Fats

One of the things that makes me angry is being lied to or deceived and one of those areas is regarding our food.  Food manufacturers are handing us down lies and deceptions and our Government is saying it’s ok.  I guess that’s what they mean when they say, “They are in bed with each other!”

Do you remember years ago when we were told:

“Fats are bad.”

“Fats cause heart disease.”

“Stay away from fats and eat low fat food.”

The crazy thing is when you remove the “fats” from food, it becomes tasteless.  So in order for the food to have some taste and be more palatable, they add sugar.   Ugh.  Sugar is so much worse for you than fats.  Sugar, they are finding, is actually one of the culprits for heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

We need fat.  Our brain is made up of 60% fat.  For those individuals who were on low fat diets for all these years, are they the ones suffering from Alzheimer’s or dementia?  That is truly something that needs to be researched.  Also, our body has over 75 trillion cells and every cell in our body is made up of fat.

Fats are essential to our overall health but they need to be healthy fats.  For more than 30 years, we have been fed the lie that fats are unhealthy.  We were told that butter is bad for you, so they recommended margarine … which is nothing but chemicals.  How did they figure that was better?

Then we were told that we only should have Omega-3s and that Omega-6 or Omega-9 fatty acids are bad.  Well can they answer why people in the Mediterranean are healthy and those in the US that go on the Mediterranean diet are healthy.  That diet is high in saturated fats and Omega-9 fatty acids.

We were told that vegetable oils were the way to go and now we are told that the trans fats are bad.  New studies are being released that saturated fat is showing incredible health benefits.

What is one to do?  First of all, have balance in your food.  Personally, I believe removing one food group is not the best.  I do know people that are on just “plant-based diets.”  It can work and helps with cancer and other diseases but are there long term affects?  I don’t know.  Do we have studies on that?  I’ve noticed that people on plant-based diets are cold a lot.  Could that be because they are not getting any animal fat?  Something to think about.

I believe we need animal fats but with that being said you want to be sure its grass-fed animals.    You want to be sure they are not getting antibiotics injected into them or being fed GMO grains.  But that they are being raised the way God told us to.

Do your research on the significance of fats AND listen to your body.  It knows what it needs.  It’s also important that we take control of our health.  We are our best health advocate.  No one and I mean no one will fight for your health more than yourself.
