What is your relationship with your father like? Was it a good one? Did you feel loved and protected? If you didn’t, then it could be hard for you to reach out to your Heavenly Father because you could be transferring your earthly father’s behavior onto the perfect Father in Heaven. Take a listen to this podcast to hear about what the Father in Heaven thinks about you.
Podcast – Why is it Hard for the Fatherless to Approach God?
“I’d Prefer to Read Your Message!”
Welcome friends to my Podcast Giving You a Fresh Start After Trauma. I am glad you are hear because I want to encourage you today with a message about what the Heavenly Father thinks of you … and I hope you can embrace Him.
One of the things I had a hard time accepting when I became a believer in Christ was that I had a Father in Heaven who loved me. It was really hard and took many years to get to that place of accepting the perfect love of my Father in Heaven and I can still vacillate but I’m so much better.
When your earthly father is unapproachable, harsh, mean or sadly abusive, it’s very hard to accept the image of a Father in Heaven who loves us and is kind. Many people in our world are “fatherless” and that doesn’t necessarily mean they grew up without the presence of a father. Their father could have been physically present but emotionally detached.
Or he could have been abusive, and abusive fathers damage our souls. God says that “fathers are not to exasperate their children.” Sadly, I grew up exasperated and lived in much trauma.
Then, that unhealed trauma just caused me to get into a marriage where more trauma was created. Hence, the men in my life were not a reflection of who my Father in Heaven is like. They weren’t necessarily acting as they were “created in His image.”
If this describes you, I hope that you can receive healing so that you can open your heart to Father God because what He says about you is amazing and something to be cherished.
Yes, I Want to Receive healing from my Trauma!
Take a minute and receive these truths.
Sit quietly, drink them in and let them not just be head knowledge but let them be transformative in your heart.
- He created you in His image. (Genesis 1:27)
- You may not know the Father in Heaven, but He knows EVERYTHING about you. (Psalm 139:1)
- He knows when you sit down and when you rise up (Psalm 139:2)
- Beautifully, He is familiar with all your ways (Psalm 139:3)
- He is so intimate with who you are and who He created you to be that He has numbered every hair on your head. That means when hair follicle #1203 falls out, He knows it. (Matthew 10:29-31)
- He knew you before you were conceived (Jeremiah 1:4-5). (Quick story. When my daughter was about 5 years old, she said, “mommy I saw you and daddy before I was born.” I said, “Oh really, when was that?” She responded, “The day you and daddy got married.” Makes you wonder.
- He chose you when He planned creation (Ephesians 1:11-12)
- Please believe that you are NOT a mistake. He has a book in Heaven about you. (Psalm 139:15-16)
- You are fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalm 139:14)
- You are His “offspring.” (Acts 17:28)
- He “knit you together in your mother’s womb.” (Psalm 139:13)
- He brought you forth on the day you were born. (Psalm 71:6)
- People that do not know Him, misrepresent Him. Get the truth as to who the Father is yourself. (John 8:41-44)
- He is not a distant and angry God. He is the complete expression of LOVE! (1 John 4:16)
- He desires to lavish His love upon you! (1 John 3:1)
There is so much more truth to discover!
These truths are just a smidgeon of what He thinks of you. There is so much more. Accept these truths and let them wash away any harm others may have degraded you with. Don’t let what others (whether it’s your spouse, friend, parent or even your child) have belittled you about or the character assassination they may have tried to do to you take hold in your heart as truth.
Letting others define who you are or who you should be is not healthy. Turn to the one who created you and believe what He thinks about you.
Now take some quiet time and accept the above truths into your life.
