Welcome friends to my PODCAST Giving You a Fresh Start After Trauma.  You might ask what does my kitchen products have to do with trauma?  Surprisingly a lot.  When you are working through the pain from your trauma, there are so many emotional ups and downs.  You could be dealing with depression or high levels of anxiety.

Well don’t let your kitchen products add to those emotional strains because of the toxins in those products … that you are probably not even aware of.

Silicone Products for Cooking!

Many people are a fan of using silicone products for their cooking and baking needs.  I’ve always been leery of using products made from chemicals and have for the most part avoided them as much as possible.  Instead of using a silicone mat for baking let’s say, I’ll use parchment paper, or I’ll just use oil to keep things from sticking.

Do you know there are silicone products that have been sold for cooking, but they are not safe?  From the research I’ve done, I came to understand that not all Silicone is safe to use in our kitchens.

That is part of the research I’ve done and included in my Study Guide Your Journey to Wholeness!  https://reginasanchez.com/product/your-journey-to-wholeness-study-guides/ There seems to be three levels of silicone products and one that is labeled Food Grade is not necessarily safe.  In this Study Guide, I include the studies that might shed some light for you to know if your silicone products are considered safe to cook with.  There is also a link to do a pinch test on your silicone products to determine their purity.

Some of those studies are:

  • Safety of Silicone
  • Life without Plastic/Silicone
  • Are Silicone Products Really Safe for Food?
  • Silicone Toxicity
  • Microplastics
  • OXO: Materials Disclosure
  • Pinch Test

Studies are showing that “silicones are not completely inert of being chemically unreactive and can release toxic chemicals.”  Some of the side effects can be impaired fertility, potential carcinogenicity and endocrine disruptors.  If you have suffered from breast cancer or other hormonal cancers, and you use silicone products, dig deeper for some further research to determine if they are harming your health.

Also, we need to consider all the dyes that are used to make the products attractive.  Are the chemicals from the dyes leeching into your food?  Something to consider.

As I tell everyone that follows me, don’t necessarily believe me.  Take what I’m saying and do your own research.  We all need to be our own investigators.
