How many times have you said, “Well I guess it wasn’t God’s will in my life for me to do this” or “I must have done something wrong … again.”  If that’s you, then take a few minutes to listen to this Podcast to be encouraged to not give up!

Welcome friends to my Podcast Giving You a Fresh Start After Trauma!  Today I want to encourage you to not give up on something you really felt was God’s will.  Let’s get started.

“I’d Prefer to Read Your Message!”

How many times have you prayed about a situation and believed you had the answer as what you should do, to then move forward and do it, to only have the opposite happen?  I don’t know about you, but this has happened to me many times.  When that has happened, what do you think I resolved?  What thoughts did I allow to ruminate in my mind?

  • I guess this wasn’t God’s will.
  • I must have done something wrong for this to happen. (This is a biggie for me!)

Then, after I let my mind go in a thousand directions, I abort the plan, give up, get frustrated and go back to the drawing board.

Well, I wonder if Mary and Martha had the same feelings when their brother Lazarus was sick and they sent a message to Jesus to come.  They knew Jesus was full of healing power and could heal their brother.  But what eventually happened?  Jesus didn’t come immediately and Lazarus died.

Do you not wonder what these two ladies must have felt?

Jesus was their friend and they watched so many healings that Jesus did and He didn’t even come to heal their brother.  But sometimes there is a bigger purpose for His delay.

When Jesus got the message about Lazarus, he said, “This sickness will not end in death for Lazarus, but will bring glory and praise to God.  This will reveal the greatness of the Son of God by what takes place.”  John 11:4 The Passion Translation.

How confusing.

Jesus said this sickness will not end in death, yet he died.  How many plans in your life have died and you’ve aborted them because you deduced it wasn’t to happen?

Well on the 3rd day, Jesus decided to go and see his friends and upon His arrival He did something no one expected.  He raised Lazarus from the dead.  His purpose was to show the people His Father’s power and what His Kingdom was all about.

So, what has died in your life and you’ve aborted it.  Perhaps you are to “push through” and have your own miracle in your life.  Maybe there is still more work for you to do, or you need to further “renew your mind.”   (Read my post on “pushing through” )

How was your thinking?

Could your own “stinkin thinkin” have brought death to this issue in your life?  Boy I know what that’s about.  I had such “stinkin thinkin” and then would blame God for something not working.  Maybe it’s not time for you to give up and it’s time to sit quietly and renew your strength and your mind to continue.

When we’ve had much trauma, disappointments and pain in our life, the minute something looks like it’s spiraling down, we can throw up our hands and give up.  Let me ask you this question.

“What can be locked inside of you when you are shutdown in shame?  But the better part is … what can be unlocked in you when you are freed by God’s grace?”

This statement was made by Artist Vanessa Horabuena.  If you are not familiar with her work, look her up.  She was filled with shame but once she truly let it go, gave it to God to heal, the gift of her art was released almost in a supernatural way.  (Read about her journey here Read Vanessa’s Journey Here

Ask God for your next step.

Is it time to take your Bible off the shelf, dust it off and begin to get in the Word.  Or maybe even purchase one.

Years ago, I heard in my heart, “all your answers are in the Word.”  To be honest, I didn’t take heed to that, and I just tried to figure things out on my own.  When that failed enough times, I finally decided to listen.

For me the Bible can be overwhelming at times because there is so much there to read.  Where do you start?  What should I read?  Well maybe start in Proverbs (the book of Wisdom) and let the Holy Spirit guide you from there.  He knows the answer, the next step and specifically knows your journey.

Maybe what you have laid down or aborted can be resurrected.  If it’s God’s will, no one or nothing can prevent you from moving forward in it.   Yes, there can be glitches in your journey but if you stay close to the Holy Spirit, those glitches won’t be successful.  Don’t give up!

Go get quiet and ask the Father for wisdom.  He can speak to your heart or answer you through the Word of God.  Either way, you will have what you need to move forward.
