Our nervous system can seem complex to understand let alone understand how to live a balanced life.  Because of all the traumas in my life … from adolescence to adulthood, I have lived in my sympathetic nervous system.  That fight or flight mode.  Living in the sympathetic system is great when you need it.  But continually living there is not a healthy way to live.  It’s taken much research, prayer and change for me to begin to live that balanced life.  Am I fully there?  No but I do understand that it is a journey and since I’ve lived this way so much of my life, I won’t get balanced overnight.

Our nervous system consists of our brain, our spinal cord and complex pathways of nerves throughout our whole body.  Our nervous system processes information from our thoughts and what we choose to feel and believe.  So what are you thinking?

When we touch something hot, our nervous system will communicate the painful feeling of that hot object to our brain.  It then quickly tells our hand to take it away from that hot object.  Without our nervous system, we could not reason, understand, think, see, taste, feel or smell.

Our nervous system is very delicate and can be easily triggered.  Believe me I know this first hand.  It didn’t take much for my nervous system to get heightened.

There are many things you need to look at to calm yourself down but one of the safe and healthy ways are using Essential Oils.  My choice of oils is doTerra.

Our nervous system has many parts.  The central nervous system consists of the brain and spinal cord. This part of the nervous system receives information from our senses, stores memories, and generates thoughts and emotions. When you have peaceful, happy thoughts, you will have a greater sense of encouragement, motivation and happiness. There are many essential oils that can be uplifting and encouraging, such as mint and citrus oils.   They will also help you stay grounded. Blends in the Emotional Aromatherapy Kit can help you manage negative emotions and move you back into a more positive space, so you can refocus on your goals.

The autonomic nervous system regulates functions you do not consciously control, such as heart rate, immune secretions, breathing, and blood pressure. Various stress related conditions are associated with elevated measurements of these vitals. The AromaTouch Technique is designed to bring alignment and peace to the whole body by affecting the autonomic nervous system.

Some essential oils traditionally used to balance or calm the nervous system include Lavender, Bergamot, Cilantro, Frankincense, Roman Chamomile, Rose, Basil, Copaiba, Vetiver, and Wild Orange.

Essential Oils are not the “magic pill” to healing your nervous system.  But they are a natural way to aid in the restoring, calming, uplifting and balancing this system in your body.  Give it a try for at least 30 days and let me know your results.
