Or we’ve gradually moved into a place of complacency and even negativity. I’d Prefer to Read Your Message!
My last few teachings were pertaining to living, moving and being in the call that is on your life. After listening to those teachings, you do not feel that you are at that place, then perhaps it’s time to take an adventure. Maybe it’s time for you to step into the abundant life you were meant to live in. And I’m not talking about dollars but abundance in peace, joy, fulfillment, wisdom, love and even excitement.
What is the desire in your heart right now? Take a few minutes and get quiet. Ask the Lord to expose what might be hidden deep in your heart. It doesn’t have to be a career change but it could be creating a small business or ministry that blesses others such as making wedding cakes or helping people capture their memories by creating Photo Books for them. But it should be something that fills your heart and blesses others.
Listen to what John Eldredge Has to Say!
As John Eldredge says, “Our desire, if we listen to it will save us from committing soul-suicide, the sacrifice of our hearts on the altar of ‘getting by.’” Don’t sacrifice your joy and pleasure by just getting by in life. There is so much more we should be walking in. We were made to live in a world of wonder, beauty, intimacy and adventure every day.
I know right now the world seems to be spiraling out of control. But despite that, we can live in the beauty of things … just look at the nature around you. Or we can still live in wonder … think about how God created everything around us from the light to the darkness and all that is in between. We still can share in the intimacy of our relationships no matter what is happening in the world and lastly, we still can take an adventure. You can take an adventure every day that you are alive. Remember everyday gives you the ability to have a “Fresh Start!”
Sometimes we have taken the desires of our heart and buried them. We think if we stuff them away the pain will go. But it does not go away. It will surface in other ways and there will be situations in your life that will trigger that pain. Think about the times you overreacted to something.
I want to share with you a story
I have shared this story before, but I think it’s worth a share again. It’s about a sea lion lost from sea living in a dry dessert. I think you will love the analogy. If you want a copy for yourself the link is below.
Story of The Sea Lion Lost From Sea!
When we lose ourselves and our desires, we tend to be ruled by the desires of others. So many of us are drift through life without having an inner compass to bring us direction and guidance. I remember hearing years ago that a cemetery is a library of books of people’s lives not written. Not that we all need to write a book about our life but we need to live the life from the book of life written in heaven.
I love Psalm 139 but specifically love this verse:
“You saw who you created me to be before I became me! Before I’d ever seen the light of day, the number of days you planned for me were already recorded in your book.” Psalm 139:15 The Passion Translation, TPT
“Many times it’s hard to get the dilemma of that desire out of our heart so we turn to a powerful drug … distraction. We don’t stop to take a hard look at what we are really doing and allowing to distract us because then we might see the lie we have been believing that has pulled us away from that desire.” John Ellsworth from Journey of Desire
It is then that God has to come and rescue us from the very thing (distraction) that we thought would save us. And rescue He will do.
