Why do we get sick?  Is that a question you ask yourself periodically or even frequently?  Do you seem to be in a cycle of one sick issue after another?  Or are your children constantly sick?  Well, it is a good question to ask but we shouldn’t just leave it there.  It’s important to get an answer.  Take a listen to this podcast to help you take a look at possibly you are on a cycle of sickness and dis-ease.

We live in a “cause-and-effect” world.  Or as some say a “sowing and reaping” world.  What you sow you will reap.  So, if you are not eating clean, sleeping well, managing stress, or having good lifestyle habits, your body will reap negative results.

I love this statement from Dr. Perlmutter.

A consideration to look at is many people are living in a mode of “deficiencies.”  They tend to think that they don’t eat a lot.  But the fact is they probably eat too much.  Do you know that you can eat a lot and still be nutritionally starved?  How?  Because you are eating the wrong foods.

  • You are eating out a lot
  • You eat fast food
  • You eat a lot of processed foods
  • You snack more than you prepare a balanced meal.

Some people get frustrated and will turn to be a vegan or follow a plant-based diet.  If that’s you, are you finding that it is working for you?  Do you find it sustainable?  Are you getting enough protein?  Your body needs good protein especially if you are exercising a lot or are a woman that still menstruates?  Lack of protein or not enough protein can very easily cause you to become iron deficient.

For me it’s all about balance.

I see many dangers in our medical industry where they are in a “cut, burn, or poison” treatment mode.  But also, things can go way to the other side in the “natural” healing industry.  If you watch videos like “Forks and Knives” where they totally bastardize eating meat and say plant based is the only way, on some level they are deceiving you.  Because what they are not telling you is that they are comparing eating meat from CAFO farms (Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations) and never mention eating grass fed/grass finished organic meats.

As much as our traditional medical industry is about profits and making money, so is the natural healing industry.  Just think about all the different dietary theories there are out there.  The last count I had was over 114 different diets.  How confusing is that?

But back to my original question.

Do you feel like you are constantly fighting some sickness or even seasonal allergies?  Know that you can be healed of all but it’s not about getting sick and getting healed.  It’s about not even getting sick to begin with.  I love what Jordon Rubin says,

“The best way to ‘cure’ disease is to never get it.”

I could not agree with him more.  Instead of fighting to lower prescription costs, get better health insurance, having more medical issues covered how about working at not needing any of those entities.  How about making lifestyle changes that bring you to a place of wholeness and health.

When I was a child, we only went to the doctor when we were REALLY sick.  Otherwise, our moms kept us in bed, made homemade chicken soup and gave us fluids.  Now we have “wellness checkups.”  Why do we need to be “checked up” if we are well?  I’m not saying that going and getting your blood worked checked is wrong.

But can we do a paradigm shift and …

  • stop eating junk food
  • stop putting toxins on our body
  • change our cleaning products
  • not cook on toxic pans
  • stop fertilizing with chemicals
  • NEVER use Roundup
  • get restorative sleep
  • manage our stress
  • heal past traumas

Then let’s see what changes in your health.

  • Will you sleep better?
  • Will you have more energy?
  • Will you not be sick any longer?
  • Will you be able to get on the floor and play with your grandkids?
  • Will you be able to go for a walk without being out of breath?
  • Will you get off your meds?
  • Will depression or anxiety leave your body?
  • Will you have more money to take a nice vacation instead of spending on doctors or medical needs?

Those are just a few things to think about.

Now if it feels overwhelming to make lifestyle changes, it doesn’t have to.

You just take it one step at a time and know that it will take time.  If you think all will be perfect after a week or two or even a month of making changes, you are deceiving yourself.  You gradually got to where you are, and it will take some time and dedication to make changes and then see the effect of those changes.  It will depend on how serious you are.

When I had yeast overgrowth in my whole body 40 years ago, I made drastic changes and followed what my Integrative Medicine Doctor told me. I did have relief after about 30 days.  So, seeing improvements quickly is possible.  But it must be your decision and dedication to make those changes.

In summary, if you are dealing with sickness one after another, consider looking at lifestyle issues to make some changes for positive results.  I’m here to help if you need support.
