Many times, in our state of frustration we express our desire for change only to find that we are easily swayed back into our old ways.
We may think that we’ve reached our limits and we are ready to move into another direction but find that the pit we are in can still pull us down as we are trying to climb out.
Why?
I believe because we are not “desperate for change.”
- We don’t want it bad enough.
- We are straddling the fence.
- We are afraid of the unknown and what it means to not have what we are holding onto.
- What we are holding onto is serving a greater purpose that we might not even be aware of.
- We are just afraid to let go of the old and familiar to welcome the new and unfamiliar. At least with the familiar we know what we have.
Recently, I started working with a new Spiritual Life Coaching client who has made tremendous strides in achieving her goals. She can’t thank me enough, but I tell her first it’s not all me. I go to the Lord for guidance regarding each of my client’s needs. I don’t rely on my own wisdom. Secondly, she’s making the hard changes … not me. She was ready. She was desperate for change and change she is walking in.
So, I ask you again, are you “desperate for change?” Are you ready to make the difficult changes that may need to happen to have the success and freedom you desire in your life? Sometimes we say we are, begin to take that first step to make a change and then fall back into the same pattern we were in.
Why?
Well for one a habit can be hard to break. It can take much strength to walk away from that habit. Also, many times the emotional wounds we have suffered causes our cries of pain to drown out God’s voice and hence knowing what we need to do. The Father is the perfect healer, and He has all your answers. He knows which path for you to take. He knows what your first step should be, and He knows what obstacles and trials you will face on that journey of change.
Don’t let the darkness of your fear, grief or emotional wounding stop you from seeing the “light” that has been set before you. Sometimes all we need to do is take that one step and we have left the darkness. We don’t even know we are at the edge of that darkness ready to move into truth, hope and love but our fear has immobilized us. We think the darkness is deep and more powerful to only realize taking that one step brought us out of that darkness. But if it didn’t bring us out completely, it brought us one step closer to that change.
Working with clients in removing clutter from their homes and their lives sometimes has them stuck in what they think their clutter is doing for them. Clutter can have many faces and many names, but they are not real.
We may give it the name of:
- Protection
- Happiness
- Pleasure
- Comfort
- Success
But your clutter is lying to you. It’s the great deception and wants to keep you stuck and imprisoned so you cannot walk in the fullness of life God has for you.
The true faces and names for clutter should be:
- Chaos
- Confusion
- Stress
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Procrastination
- Low self-worth
Don’t stay there. Don’t let those lies keep you stuck. Move forward to a life that will be more fulfilling and complete. Get desperate for change.
There is nothing wrong with needing support while trying to make those changes in your life. There is nothing shameful about reaching out for help. We all have times in our life where help is needed. Reach out … get desperate for change!
