Today I want to discuss with you some steps you can take to turn your health around. Are these the only steps that should be taken? Not necessarily but taking these steps will encompass much to help bring you positive results. What are the steps?
Step #1 – Be Sure to Take Care of Yourself FIRST.
It’s like flying in an airplane and the oxygen masks drop down. Adults are instructed to put on their mask first and then help the younger ones. If you don’t help yourself first and try to help the younger one first, you could pass out before you can get to helping yourself.
By helping yourself first you will have the strength and energy to help others in your family. You also will have the wisdom about what you did that gave you success in your lifestyle changes and you can guide other family members to that same success. Experience speaks louder than instructions.
Step #2 – Don’t Worry About “Diets.”
Diets don’t work. Oh, they may work for a while and you may lose weight and feel better, but most diets are not sustainable and when you go back to eating those foods your diet told you to stay away from, the weight usually goes right back on and more.
I recommend that you eat whole, real food and that you make as much of your food from scratch. Eating pre-made or processed foods are full of chemicals, artificial coloring, flavorings and are toxic to your health. Many times, when we take processed foods from our diet, the weight will begin to drop off and our health can turn around.
Our body needs nutrition to keep a strong immune system to enable it to fight off dis-ease. When we don’t eat whole, real food we are starving our bodies … even if we feel full.
I personally do not recommend removing complete food groups from your diet. We need to eat a balanced diet and removing a complete food group is not necessarily sustainable either. You really need to know what you are doing because when you remove whole food groups you are missing vital nutrients and vitamins. They need to be replaced and you need to understand how to replace them. It’s best to eat a balanced diet with whole real food. Eating organic as much as possible is also wise. You want to stay away from pesticides, herbicides and GMO within your food.
#3 Look Within Yourself. Your Body Can Heal Itself!
God made our bodies to be a miracle. Our bodies were created and designed to heal itself, but it needs the right nutrients to accomplish that. When we starve our body by eating processed and artificial food, we don’t allow our immune system to strengthen, and our cells are not being properly fed. It leaves our bodies depleted and dis-ease begins to grow.
#4 Don’t Do It Alone.
Having family members or friends join in on making lifestyle changes is always a good idea. You will all need support from time to time to makes these changes and if one family member is discouraged, another member can help encourage and lift them up.
If you don’t have family members who are willing to makes changes to their health, then consider working with a Coach. Why would you want to consider working with a Coach? Well here a two reasons:
#1 There is more to healthy living than the food you eat? Do you know that your relationships, your physical activity (or lack thereof), your career and your spirituality will affect your health? Health coaches take a holistic approach to supporting the whole person.
#2 Physicians don’t always have the time or the resources to work with their patients to help them build a healthy lifestyle. Health Coaches help fill that need in our current Healthcare System.
So how about you? Are you ready to make some lifestyle changes to turn your health around? Don’t wait any longer. The sooner you get started the sooner you will experience a whole-body transformation. I’m not only speaking physically but emotionally as well.
